How Much Does a Website Cost in Anand and Gujarat in 2026?

A business website in Anand or anywhere in Gujarat can cost anything from a few thousand rupees to several lakh, and both ends of that range can be a fair price. The number depends on five things: how many pages and features you need, whether the design is a template or built for you, who writes the content, what the site has to connect to (payments, bookings, a CRM, WhatsApp), and who looks after it after launch. Before you compare prices, compare what each quote actually includes, and budget for the yearly running costs as well as the build.
I'm Gulab Chand Tejwani, founder of TechNet Consultancy in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand. We build websites and web applications for local businesses and also teach web development, so I see quotes from both sides: what clients get offered and what the work really takes. This guide won't give you a price list, because a list without a scope is meaningless. It will help you understand why two quotes for "a website" can be ten times apart, and how to tell which one is right for you.
Why do website quotes vary so much?
Two vendors can use the same word, "website", for very different products.
One quote might be a theme installed on WordPress or a website builder, with your logo, a few photos and the text you send on WhatsApp. That can be done in days, and it's cheap because most of the work was done by whoever made the theme.
Another quote might include a discovery meeting, a sitemap, custom design in Figma, copywriting, a page for each service, local SEO setup, a contact form that sends leads to your email and WhatsApp, speed tuning, and three months of support. That takes weeks and needs a designer, a developer and someone who can write.
Neither is wrong. A tiffin service that gets all its orders on WhatsApp may only need the first. A manufacturer in GIDC Vithal Udyognagar that wants export enquiries probably needs the second. The mistake is comparing them as if they were the same thing.
What are you actually paying for?
Most website budgets split across these pieces. When a quote is very low, at least one of them is missing.
- Planning. Who the site is for, which pages it needs, what you want visitors to do (call, fill a form, visit the shop, buy).
- Design. Template customisation is quick. A custom design takes longer but fits your brand and your customers better.
- Content. Writing the text for every page, and photos of your shop, team or products. This is the part most people underestimate. A designer cannot make an empty page convincing.
- Development. Building the pages so they work well on phones, load quickly and are easy for you to update.
- Features and integrations. Online payments, appointment booking, a product catalogue, multilingual pages (Gujarati, Hindi, English), login areas, or a link to your billing software.
- Basic SEO setup. Page titles, descriptions, headings, a sitemap, Google Search Console, and a link to your Google Business Profile.
- Launch and handover. Domain connection, SSL, backups, and showing you how to edit things.
Ask each vendor to break their quote down along roughly these lines. A good vendor will do this without fuss.
What are the yearly running costs of a website?
The build is a one-time cost. These come back every year:
- Domain renewal. A .in or .com domain is renewed yearly with a registrar. Make sure the domain is registered in your name or your company's name, not the developer's.
- Hosting. Shared hosting is cheapest. A web application with logins, a database or heavy traffic needs better hosting, and the cost goes up.
- SSL certificate. Many hosts include a free one now. If yours doesn't, it's an extra line.
- Business email. Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 is charged per user per month. Check their current pricing pages, because it changes.
- Maintenance. Plugin and security updates, backups, small text changes, fixing things when a browser update breaks a layout.
- Paid plugins or themes. Some WordPress themes and plugins charge a yearly licence.
When someone offers "website plus hosting free for life", read the terms. Usually it means hosting on their account, and if you part ways, you may lose the site or the domain.
Template, WordPress or custom-built: which should you choose?
Here's how I'd decide for a typical local business.
A website builder or simple template works if you need four or five pages, you'll rarely change them, and your main goal is to look credible when someone searches your name. It's cheap and fast.
WordPress suits most small and mid-sized businesses. It's widely used, many developers in Gujarat know it, and you can edit content yourself. The trade-off is upkeep: plugins need updating, and a site with thirty plugins can get slow and fragile.
A custom-built site or web application makes sense when you need something a template can't do well. Think student portals, dealer logins, quotation tools, or integration with your ERP. It costs more up front, but you're not fighting a theme every time you want a change. We'll cover that decision in more depth in a separate guide on custom software vs off-the-shelf tools.
What makes a cheap website expensive later?
These are the costs that tend to show up after a "cheap" launch:
- The developer owns the domain or hosting account, and you can't get the login.
- No backups, so one hacked plugin means rebuilding from scratch.
- The site looks fine on a laptop and breaks on a phone, which is how most of your visitors arrive.
- Every page has the same title, so Google has no idea what each page is about.
- Pages load slowly because nobody compressed the photos.
- The contact form sends emails to an inbox nobody checks.
- No analytics, so you can't tell if the site brings any enquiries at all.
None of these are expensive to get right at the start. They're expensive to fix later.
How do you compare website quotes properly?
Send every vendor the same short brief. One page is enough:
- What your business does and who your customers are.
- The pages you think you need.
- What a visitor should do on the site (call, WhatsApp, form, buy).
- Must-have features, like payments, booking, or Gujarati pages.
- Who will write the content and supply photos.
- Two or three websites you like, and why.
Then ask every vendor the same questions:
- Who will own the domain, hosting account and code?
- What exactly is included, page by page?
- How many design revisions do I get?
- Will it be built on a template, a builder, WordPress, or custom code?
- What happens after launch, and what does support cost per year?
- Can I see two sites you built that are live today, and talk to those owners?
- How will I know the site is bringing enquiries?
If a vendor can't answer the ownership question clearly, that's your answer.
How long does a website take to build?
A simple template site can go live in a week if your content is ready. A custom business site usually takes several weeks, and most of the delay is waiting for content and feedback, not coding. A web application with logins and integrations takes longer and is best planned in phases.
The fastest way to speed things up is to have your text, logo and photos ready before the project starts.
Is a website still worth it if I have Instagram and WhatsApp?
For most businesses in Anand and Nadiad, yes. Instagram and WhatsApp are great for conversations with people who already know you. A website is what Google shows when someone who has never heard of you searches "computer classes near me" or "CNC job work Anand". It's also the one channel you own. Platforms change their rules, and your website stays yours.
That said, a website alone does very little. It needs to be connected to your Google Business Profile, shared in your WhatsApp replies, and found in search. Otherwise it's a brochure in a drawer.

FAQ
What is the cheapest way to get a business website in Gujarat?
A website builder or a simple WordPress theme with four or five pages is the cheapest route. It's fine for a credible online presence, as long as you own the domain and can edit the content yourself.
Should I pay the full website cost upfront?
Most developers work in milestones, for example an advance at the start, a payment when the design is approved, and the balance at launch. Avoid paying everything upfront, and make sure the milestones are written in the quote.
Who should own my domain and hosting?
You should. Register the domain in your own or your company's name, with your email address, and keep the logins. Your developer can be given access, but the account should be yours.
Do I need to pay GST on website development?
Website development is a taxable service in India, so registered vendors will add GST to the invoice. Ask whether the quote is inclusive or exclusive of GST so you compare like with like.
How often should a website be updated?
Security updates should happen at least monthly for WordPress sites. Content, like services, prices, photos and contact details, should be checked every few months and whenever something changes in your business.
